Tenuta La Novella is a Tuscan estate producing wine and olive oil. Situated 16 km south of Florence, in the north-east end of the Chianti Classico appellation, vineyard and olive groves are organically farmed since 1996. All in all, the domain covers an area of 180 hectares.
At the moment, 12 hectares of vines are planted with different varieties of grape. The sangiovese cover the bigger part of the vineyard in the way to elaborate the Chianti Classico and the Chianti Classico Riserva. We possess also some white grape varietals plots : Moscato, Trebbiano and Malvasia, intended for the exceptional Vinsanto elaboration.
Grapes are exclusively handpicked and destemmed. The alcoholic fermentations take place in stainless steel tank but the malolactic fermentation takes place in French oak barrels. All our wines are aged in barrels between 12 and 18 months, according to vintages.
The estate also produces extra-vergin olive oil. In fact, we have an oil mill endowed by the last technology, allowing us to obtain a very high quality oil. The 2500 olive trees are also conduct in organic farming since 1996. Four olive varietals are harvested in Tenuta La Novella: Leccino, Pendolino, Frantoio and Moraiolo. The harvest is handmade and olives are pressed as soon as possible not to alter the fruits quality.
