Profilo Aziendale
Our family history is inextricably linked to wine, to vines and to our hills, where my grandparents toiled for all their lives, followed by my father in his youth.
In the year 2000, we decided to go back to our roots and now my husband and I we work fulltime, cultivating our vineyards and producing our own wine.
We took great care in the choice of the vineyards: this is essential for the production of superior wines.
NIZZA is the name of the town where we have our estate, and it is now also the name of the new appellation NIZZA DOCG – the area of excellence for the Barbera d’Asti (the NIZZA production area is strictly limited, from the cultivation and oenological viewpoint, more info on www.il nizza.it).
We also produce Moscato d’Asti DOCG, Brachetto d’Acqui DOCG, Piemonte DOC Sauvignon and Monferrato DOC.
Even though we are a relatively new winery, the Azienda Agricola La Gironda has already won a whole raft of awards and our wines are on all the most important Italian wine guides and they are appreciated also on the international stage.
We cultivate and tend our vineyards with maximum respect for the environment. We only treat our vines with product based on copper or sulphur and we don’t use herbicides to clear the ground beneath the vines. For this and other systems we have in place, the winery has obtained the iso14001 certificate. This commitment on our part reflects our drive towards product excellence and environmental sustainability.
Our aim as winemakers is to produce the best wine we can in the simplest, most natural way possible so that it is the true expression of where we live and work: Nizza, the true heart of Piedmont!
