Marco Sambin is a professor of psycopathology at the University of Padova, Italy. He restored a small country house to produce fine wines and to host stages of psycopathology. The vineyards – 2 ha - are planted on very steep terraces in the Valnogaredo valley, facing south: Caberent Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Syrah.
Valnogaredo is a very peculiar terroir inside the Colli Euganei appellation, since it is characterized by very rocky and shallow soils made mostly of limestones and clay, with hot climate, but very good temperature excursions during the ripening period, These conditions give rise to full bodied wines, with beautifully ripe fruit, but never heavy or monolitic. Harvest 2005 gave birth to only 1800 bottles (hand bottled) of a very complex, elegant, refined and deep red. Harvest 2006 was amazing, with great aromatics and perfect ripening, which make this wine one of the best Italian bordeaux blend of that year. 2007 vintage, despite the warm winter and the hot weather of the first decade of september, resulted in a rich but very elegant and fresh wine. 2008 just released is a wonderfully balanced wine, gourgeous in detail and posture.
