The Leone Rosso is the first wine created by Barbara Magnani, the young winemaker at Fattoria del Colle, with the grapes from the Sangiovese and Merlot vineyards that surround the 16th century villa.
This wine Leone Rosso is dedicated to Donatella Cinelli Colombini’s ancestors. In fact the present owner’s ancestors had as a blazon a rampant lion.
The denomination to which this wine belongs, the DOC Orcia, was created in the year 2000 in the hilly area between the more famous Brunello and Vino Nobile lands. Fattoria del Colle is entirely in this new denomination .It is an area which is very well known for the beauty of its panoramas and of it cities of art, which year after year is also getting recognition for the quality of its wines.
