The vineyards are located in a round hill area, 300 m on sea-level with clay soil rich in potassium, yellow sands (tufa), shells and coral fossils. Plant system is mixed between guyot and spur cord with 3500-5000 vines per hectare. In the early summer a green harvest is made.
Harvest: manual harvest
Wine-making: Fermentation with maceration process carried out in French wood open tanks at a controlled temperature. Malolactic carried at the end of the process.
Ageing period: After its fermentation period Vino Nobile di Montepulciano Riserva starts ageing in wood, traditional barrels from 25 to 100 hl and French oak barriques for 3 years and it ends with few months in the bottle.
Tasting notes: Ruby red color with garnet reflections. The typical fruity notes of Sangiovese grapes in this case is more balsamic with sweet tobacco and chocolate notes. Round body , elegant, silky and well balanced.
Serving temperature: 18-20°C
Great with braised and stew meat, grilled red meat and typical Tuscan main course.
